Planning

Let's start with the basics

Maybe you know what you want to do and how to do it. Maybe you’re not so sure, especially if this is your first writing venture. It helps to talk through your project and plan how to go about it and, with our wealth of experience, we are ready and willing to assist with that.

Writing

Let's get those creative juices flowing

Planning is important, but the next stage after that is usually the writing. Sometimes you just need help to get that first draft ‘down on paper’.
We can discuss what you need, taking time to fully understand your project, and then do your writing for you. After that initial step, you (and we) have something to work with.

Editing

Clear, concise, compelling

No matter how well you write, your work can likely be improved by editing – making it clearer, more concise, more compelling. There are two main stages. First comes ‘substantive’ editing, looking at the content and making sure the intended message (maybe the story or a plan) comes across in logical and convincing fashion.
Once the content has been finalised, copy-editing looks at the text sentence by sentence, checking the meaning and improving the clarity and flow.

Proofreading

You're almost there!

When the piece is finished and 'ready' to be published, it will need to be proofread. Many errors will have been found and corrected during editing. But the proofreading stage involves checking the document word by word, sentence by sentence, looking specifically for ‘typos’, spelling mistakes, misplaced punctuation, grammatical errors, wrongly numbered sections, unevenly spaced lines, uncaptioned photographs; the list goes on. Without this stage, however well you have written and edited, your work may come across as unprofessional.
